Initiated by scientist, writer and art lover Samuel Peralta, The Lunar Codex uses digital and analog technology to preserve art, books, music, and more, enclosed in time capsules and launched to the Moon. It is a message-in-a-bottle to the future.
Eleven of my works that in the last few years appeared in American catalogues, in an issue of Fine Art Connoisseur and in many issues of the Poets Artists magazine of publisher Didi Menendez have been digitized and will be part of several launches to the Moon in 2023 and 2024, which with an A.I. will be left on the Moon in a time capsule. In total, thousands of works of artists from 139 countries are part of this mission.
Our hope is that future travelers who find these time capsules will discover some of the richness of our world today... It speaks to the idea that, despite wars and pandemics and climate upheaval, humankind found time to dream, time to create art. - Samuel Peralta
